Shae reached out in search of someone to help document a milestone event, his graduation from the University of Cambridge. It was great fun to photograph and I genuinely enjoyed it, just as much as I hope he and his family did.


I found myself swept up in the energy of the day, often forgetting I was there in a professional capacity. The setting couldn’t have been more inspiring, striking architecture, historic college buildings, and picturesque grounds. As well as formal and family shots I managed to grab some candid moments behind the scenes which I think really help tell the story of their special occasion and Shae's achievement. Graduation is a milestone worth celebrating, and I want to make sure your portraits reflect both the achievement and the joy of the day. To help you feel confident about the process, I’ve answered some of the most common questions below, from session details to delivery times. My aim is to keep things simple, relaxed, and focused on capturing the pride and excitement of your accomplishment.

What is your approach to graduation photography?

I focus on capturing the excitement and pride of the day with a relaxed, story‑driven style. My goal is to document authentic moments that reflect your achievement and personality.



Do you offer individual and group portraits?

Yes. I photograph graduates individually, with family, and in groups of friends or classmates, ensuring everyone has meaningful images to remember the occasion.



Can I include family or friends in my session?

Absolutely. Graduation is a shared milestone, and I welcome family and friends to join your portraits.


How long does a graduation session last?

Sessions typically run from 2 to 3 hours, depending on ceremony timings and whether you’d like individual portraits only or group shots as well.



Do you provide cap and gown, or should I bring my own?

Most graduates bring their own cap and gown, but I’ll happily advise on styling and accessories to make your portraits stand out. There's some great advice on 'academical dress' on the University of Cambridge website.


Can you photography the ceremony?

Unfortunately external professional photographers are not allowed in the grounds of Senate House to take pictures of graduands. Tempest photography is the official photographer for the award ceremony and any formal studio portraiture on the day. For more information please take a look at the photography guidance on the university of cambridge website.


How soon will I receive my photos?

You’ll usually receive a curated online gallery within a week to 2 weeks. Sneak peeks are shared sooner so you can celebrate right away.


Do you offer prints or framed options?

Yes, I believe in creating lasting, tactile keepsakes. Albums and prints can be added to any package, with options to suit different styles and budgets.

Do you require a deposit? 

A small booking fee secures your date, with the remaining balance due closer to the shoot.


Do you charge travel fees? 

Travel within Cambridge is included. For longer distances, I keep travel costs simple and transparent.


Can we add extra hours on the day? 

Yes, additional coverage can be added if your plans change.


Do you offer payment plans? 

For weddings and larger projects, I can offer flexible payment options.
